Sunday School

We offer age-appropriate programs for children in Pre-school up to Year 6 during our Sunday morning service. After an initial worship time with everyone together in the Sanctuary, the children move into their respective Sunday School groups which run during the remainder of the service. The program offers a fun time of learning about God in different ways tailored for each age group.

Sunday School is run by a team of experienced, passionate and enthusiastic volunteer teachers and helpers who all have a WWCC and have undergone Creating Safe Spaces training. They delight in seeing children grow and develop in their knowledge and understanding of how precious they are to their heavenly Father. This nurturing environment has seen children grow in confidence, develop strong friendships and know that they are valued members of the church family. In 2018, EHBC was very blessed and proud to celebrate 70 years of offering quality biblical teaching to generations of children through Sunday School.

Early Stage 1 (Aged 2-4) Our ‘Early Stage 1’ class caters for children aged 2-4 with a stimulating program that includes singing, craft, memory verses and stories based on the Bible, as well as a light morning tea and some free play. The class is small, so your child will be well cared for and receive the attention they need from a team of helpers. The program focuses on helping little ones discover God, what He does, what He has made and who He loves using simple books, easy to remember actions and fun music. The little ones are also introduced to the concept of prayer through modelling by the teachers and the older children are encouraged to start adding their own contributions of thanks and prayer requests.

Stage 1 & 2 (K-3) The Stage 1 & 2 group work together in one class which covers Kindergarten to Year 3. The children are encouraged to start exploring the Bible through story, song and craft. The children engage in discussion about the different topics being taught and provide prayer points to be included in their prayer time. Although Kindergarten to Year 3 are in the same room they are split into different groups for specific activities that focus on age-appropriate content and conversation facilitated by the teacher.

Stage 3 (Years 4-6) The Stage 3 group caters for Years 4-6. The teachers nurturing this age group have an acute understanding that during this pre-teen time children often become self-conscious and reluctant to engage, so they work very hard to build strong mentoring relationships with each child. Their time together is filled with thought-provoking games and quizzes, bible reading and a craft or activity that reinforces the message of the lesson. It is here that the children start to discover the connection between various events in the Bible and God’s promises, as well as why these things are still relevant to them.

The children in this class are also provided with growth, mentorship and development opportunities, including serving on the Welcome Team. They are also paired up with a mature Christian adult in the Prayer Buddies program to help them advance their scope and understanding of prayer, as well as build multigenerational relationships within the church family.
