When: We meet from 7 to 10pm on the 2nd and 3rd Fridays of each Month (excluding December and January).

GRMRC History

The GRMRC was started by two members of East Hills Baptist Church, Noel Matthews (now Deceased) and Colin Veale.

In August 1991 after attending a Saturday workshop they discussed the possibility of getting together fellow modelers in the local area with the intention of starting a model railway club. So they wrote to known modelers in the area inviting them to an inaugural meeting on the 13th September 1991. The meeting was attended by 10 modelers and at the meeting decided on the name Georges River Model Railway Club. At this meeting it was decided to meet every 3rd Friday of each month at a location to be determined as some of the enthusiasts had home layouts to which some trains could be run. However, by the next meeting in October, 21 enthusiasts turned up so it was decided that as the club was a church-based club, future meetings would be held at East Hills Baptist Church (located at the corner of Forrest & Lehn Road, East Hills).

From 1992 the club began a building project to build a HO module layout, once the bases were constructed, trackwork and scenery started and when completed this new HO layout was called “SALT PAN FLATS” our first HO layout. Since then the club has had many other layouts in both HO and N scale, and very soon will celebrate its 27th year as a club.

We now meet every 2nd & 3rd Friday night of the month from 7pm to 10 pm. There are times we meet on the other Thursday & Friday nights when we are constructing another layout project.
